The 26-Week Transformation Course

I’m going to attempt to answer the question, “what does the 26-week course do, and why does it take that long?” Although I give a brief description on the web site, some folks want more details or specifics.  It may be double-dipping, but this is going to co-exist in the FAQ section of my web site, too. The question comes up frequently enough, that I felt it deserved a more comprehensive answer.

The short answer of course, is that in real life, the case doesn’t get solved in one episode.  Learning a single skill may take one episode, learning multiple skills will take multiple episodes, and learning the skill-sets for learning all future skills in life and how to create skills in response to needs unforeseen, well, that takes a season.   

The two elements crucial to success and growth are willingness and competency. Where it’s truly a requirement that the client enters this work with willingness, the competency can (will) be learned. Specifically, the competencies will be in the realm of shifting unconscious and subconscious drives and compulsions to conscious choices. This will be in support of what would be called “ascension” through stages of consciousness evolution and awareness.

The curricula will be tailored to each individual Typology (Integral Enneagram Type), and sub-tailored to the specific “flavor” of that Typology (for example, an Eight with lots of Seven Wing and over-developed Disintegration Point Five needing to increase their people skills). The balancing and equalization of your internal five voices (core perspective, stress, confidence, and both wings) facilitates ascension through the 3 major stages of consciousness evolution and awareness.  

Pre-Rational to Rational Stage: 

This starts in the acceptance of the totality of self, including that which you most avoid (some of this is addressed in what is called “shadow integration“). The avoidance will be in areas where the ego is most uncomfortable, and need to be explored as a kind of trauma or perceived wounding.  Acceptance intellectually is still only the beginning, but it does open the door to a more expansive acceptance that allows for the possibilities of existence of things (higher reality, spirit, unconditional love, feeling connected to all things) that are denied by the ego in its efforts to create a discrete identity. That is its job, after all.  

This perception of a wounding or trauma manifests as a belief that we have been wrenched away from spirit form (bliss/Heaven/Universe) and that our physical form prevents us from reentering that state of bliss/union/oneness. This becomes the formation of personality, and each of the IE-Types manifests that perception slightly differently; each with the no-win proposition that “I am alone because I have been cut off from Essence.” In addition, the Ego’s brilliant self-protection adds, “If I allow myself to surrender to that reality, I will cease to exist.”  

Thus to avoid personal annihilation, the personality structure (Ego) organizes itself around the opposite of the (negative) belief, making that opposite (now a positive) fundamental to the identity. (For example, we’ll use our Eight again: the perception that Vulnerability is the cause for separation leads the Ego to organize itself around the belief that it is Invulnerable). This unfortunately obscures being able to see the fallacy of the belief in the first place, which paradoxically keeps us separated from feeling our connection to our Essence.

A chicken or the egg paradox arises between thinking ourselves into existence, (the Ego’s position) or existing therefore thinking.  

Furthermore, since the avoidant behavior is purely reactive, it behaves like an addiction or compulsion. It is subconscious or unconscious, and we do many other things to retain the biochemical equilibrium that makes us feel like ourselves. This is why I am putting it into the pre-rational camp, even though we do a ton of “rationalizing” in this stage (which is actually about justifying our irrationality).  

As we try to understand our perceived separation from Unity, we apply rationality and logic, and try to explain what cannot be explained. We bring up fear, guilt, shame, anger, and any reason we can for why we are in this separated state. We either blame outwardly (I was put in this position/kicked out/rejected) or inwardly (I did this to myself; something is wrong with me) or a combination of both, and then act unconsciously upon that to earn our way back. Again, although this is not conscious thought, it still uses the structure of rationality to create an irrational belief.  

Rational to Trans-Rational Stage: 

This involves an energetic expansion into this larger reality existing beyond the wounding and perceptual filters. This enables us to view the perception of the wound in a more objective way, rather than from within it. Einstein’s quote about using the same brain (or perspective really) that created the problem to solve it fits here. It is very hard to look at the battlefield from a foxhole.  

Living from a place of conscious awareness regarding our former compulsions takes a bit of time and re-training, as we need to form new neural pathways and new structures of understanding and behavior. This requires practices and exercises to impart structure to the re-training, and requires the time for these exercises and practices to become integrated as the new “base-line” for processing and behavior.  The exercises and practices must be as specific and targeted as curls are to biceps, string-crossing is to a guitar player, or wind sprints are to a runner.  The wrong exercises or “general” exercises can be an enormous waste of time and energy.  Activity is not the same thing as progress.  

Trans-rational Stage: 

This is where the transformation and reintegration of the energy contained in the “hurt spot” takes place. This allows us to use the energy formerly used by the perception of the wound to maintain and manifest our life purposes in daily reality. There are elements of trans-rational stages which are far more difficult to remain within when confronted by lower level demands (survival comes before self-actualization) and when immersed in the “workaday world” of business and commerce. The pull downward will be very much like the force of gravity that we deal with daily.  

Although escaping that gravity permanently may be beyond the scope of our work, being able to rise into these stages, even temporarily, creates still newer neural pathways and structures of understanding and processing.  

It is the inclusion of what went before, added to these newer structures, that becomes the process of continuous ascension through stages of consciousness evolution.

By developing the capacities for developing further practices, exercises, and thus new structures of processing on our own, we become self-correcting, and self-directed in our growth. The “training wheels” are off, the competencies are in place, and how far each person takes this work is now limited only by their willingness.  Some of the subjects included in the work:
