		After
having some deep and interesting conversations recently around why I
take such a  different approach to some of what’s going on in our mind,
it came to me that it really comes back to physics. In the simplest,
most straightforward terms, the majority of action isn’t trapped in
entities, but is happening between those entities. This flows
outward from a subatomic level to relationships and how we perceive.

		Let’s start with
the subatomic. Years ago, Deepak Chopra went on talk shows saying how
because atoms are mostly empty space, the only reason we can’t put our
fingers through a table top is our belief that it’s solid. This was a
popular new-age pseudoscience assertion at the time. In fact it was
proven wrong a hundred years ago, and I’m guessing a lot of physicists
wrote some angry letters, as this idea seems to have mostly disappeared.

That “empty space” is actually filled with incredibly powerful forces
and waves. Once upon a time we thought that electrons were like balls
orbiting their nuclei in fixed orbits, but that was proven wrong. When
bound in atoms in an undisturbed state, electrons act like waves. These
waves are three-dimensional probability density waves that spread out to
fill the atom’s “space.” Because these electrons spread out into fuzzy
density waves, there’s no definite “edge” to an atom. Even a single
electron spreads out to fill all the space.

		Similarly if we go
into outer space, large objects (beyond the atomic) with sufficient
mass, warp space-time which makes them affect each other. We wouldn’t
experience tides on Earth unless we rotated through the moon’s gravity.
Jupiter is over 520 million miles away, and affects all the inner
planets. Stars actually hold their shape due to a kind of equilibrium
between the mass crushing inward and the electron degeneracy pressure
preventing total crushing collapse (nuclear fusion.)

		The space between
all these different entities is really what defines their behavior, and
		that’s the point we’re making. There’s you, there’s me, and then there’s
		the interaction that takes place between us. That’s where the action is;
inter-action. We can be the entities we are, and yet that space
between us can show up in a million different ways.

This is one of the reasons I focus on communication so much.
Communication (verbal and otherwise) can determine how that interaction
unfolds. As I’ve mentioned many times, the tone of voice you use can
even supersede the words you use, shifting the nature of that
communication. There are so many moving parts.

Now, going inside our own selves, the same thing is happening, although
we may not realize it. We don’t just have one voice or perspective
within. You know that you see everything one way when you’re totally
stressed, and another way when everything is going well. They’re both
you. You can even be stressed about one thing while totally okay about
something else at the same time. That has an effect. That interaction is
you. This is where the most powerful work we can do lives. Bringing all
our voices from chaos to clarity.

Each of our internal voices or perspectives has its own properties,
resources, challenges, and even language. They’re like planets,
cohabiting the solar system of our mind. Yes, each is unique, but the
interaction between them, once again, is where the action is.

To say “I am this one planet with this one moon” is to ignore the rest
of that solar system that you are, and all of the effects of all the
interactions. The more we look at all the “planets” and how they affect
one another, the more accurate our picture becomes.

According to some ancient Sufi philosophies, each of us has at least
five of these inner selves, and they have aspects in harmony and aspects
in conflict. This stew of perspectives creates a lot of
interaction (even 5 voices give us roughly 120 different combinations.)
This is why each of us is so unique, and yet we have overlaps with
others allowing us to relate to one another.

Most of the time, (unless we’ve done some work on this) these are
happening somewhat unconsciously, and we just assume that’s who we are.
This concept of internal interactions driving our outer interactions led
me deeply down a rabbit hole of study for several decades, and finally
developing the Integram©, for which this newsletter and
		podcast are named.

This is a model and a system for getting all that cranial chaos to work
and communicate in harmony. It unlocks vast amounts of resources we may
not have known we had, and gives us tools and understanding for our
outer relationships as well as the one we have with ourselves.

If you’d like to check out more on turning your cranial chaos into a
choir, you can check out the September 2016

		article or

		podcast.

You have incredible potential within yourself to have a virtual team
inside who can help you out of jams, help you calm anxieties, and give
you strength you never knew you had. When one part of you gets
triggered, another part likely doesn’t and can help you stay grounded.
You can be your own best friend, helper, and guide. It’s all about
unlocking your internal cluster of selves. Pretty cool!
